Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn Subject: [blade] Meshtak heads off Message-ID: <1993Jan14.053339.9608@cheshire.oxy.edu> From: dementia@cheshire.oxy.edu (Daniel Steven Reinker) Date: Thu, 14 Jan 1993 05:33:39 GMT Meshtak was alone. His mysterious opponenet, one who claimed to also have the name Meshtak, had disappeared. And the only thing Meshtak knew was that he had to get out of there before his presence endangered Liera. First thing he did was to look around for the widow, to make she was still alive. He found a door that was locked, and knocked on it. "Liera?" he called. "It's me, Meshtak....the draga you saved." A quavery voice came out. "What's going on? I heard fighting! Who's out there?" "It was a prowler, I think...I chased him away, though. Fought him off with the dagger in your kitchen." Meshtak felt guilt weigh him down, for he know that all this was because of his presence. "Liera...grot...I think he killed yer dog..." He heard a gasp. "Idgie? He killed Idgie?" Meshtak scratched his head. "Grot. Listen, Liera...why don't you come to the Dragon's Inn with me? I'll get you a room for the night...my credit's pretty good there. You should be safe there; lotsa powerful folks hang out in the bar. I'd feel better if you came." There was a pause, and then she said "Ok. Let me get some things." Liera was very distraught about the death of her dog, and Meshtak, not an adept at comforting people, could say nothing. They walked to the inn as Liera sobbed, and Meshtak checked her in upstairs. "Hey, Littlefair...my credits good, huh?" The innkeeper nodded, and soon Liera was safe in a cozy room. She was pale and haggard, and sat on the bed. "Well..." said Meshtak. "I'll be back for you after this is over, okay?" He started to leave. "Wait!" she called, and she reached into her bag and pulled out Meshtak's shift sword, in its whip form, and tossed it to him. "I found this by you. You might need it." Meshtak grasped his reliable weapon and nodded. He shut the door without a word, and headed down the hallway. There was determination in his stride. Meshtak had two stops ahead of him: the first was an easy one - he would stop by a seers and find out what was going on. The second not so easy. The numbers of the good guys had diminished, and Meshtak needed some extra manpower on his side. And he knew just where to find it. Meshtak was going to free Blade.
