Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn Subject: [ST] Mel awakes Message-ID: <1993Jan22.180153.3031@dct.ac.uk> From: mcspikgfm@dct.ac.uk Date: 22 Jan 93 18:01:53 GMT Light streamed through the small gap in the shutter of the room. Over a few hours it moved across the room and up the side of the bed. Soon it reached the hand that had been flung outwards during a night of restless sleep. The little heat generated by the beam of light drew no reaction but as it played across the fingers it caught the side of a small ring on one of the fingers and rebounded onto the face of the owner. A brief grunt issued from her mouth and a grimace appeared. " No, not now, its far too early. Get one of the others to do it for once. It just isn't fair! I always have to feed the chickens ". The light moved languidly over the ring, the reflected beam playing across half the room in the process. It moved on to another finger and this time caught a thin iron band with a flat polished exterior. As before, the light played across the elf's face catching her left eye. " Don't, RUN! I can only deal with them one way and if your here, your going to be fried too!. Ok, your funeral. Hope you wanted to be cremated. I'll try to work out which ones are your ashes. Ok, then time for a bit of Fun". A smile passed over her face to be replaced with a beaming smile. Her body moved and the beam was cut. Hours seemed to pass as she lay on her side with her arm pinned below her, then nature took its course. Mel awoke to two seperate pains in her body. One dull and numbing running up and down her lower leg whilst the other was sharp and searingly painful, Cramp. The blanket was thrown off onto the floor, closely followed by her legs. The trapped arm popped out from under her and the feeling of relief sweeping over her was destroyed by a wave of pain from her left leg as she raised to her feet. It collapsed and she fell heavily onto the wooden floor. A scream of pain and annoyance escaped her lips as she brought to mind several curses. A quick glance brought to light her swords resting against the chair in the corner and she got up and half hobbled, half hopped across to them. Once there she used the swords to lean on and opened the shutters. Looking at he leg for the first time she saw a large patch of pale skin on the inside of her ankle where the pain was coming from. It had been healed, but why had she needed healing and why was all her stuff laid about the room as if someone had been searching for something? After a quick search, all that was missing from her backpack was a small vial that had held a sleeping draught, some of her stock of oil and one of her black cloaks. However, she still had all her valuables, now including a new ring. What had been going on? Well no time like the present for finding out! " Right, where are my clothes?" After the hazardous task of dressing was complete she used the swords to manouevre down the corridor and the limp down the stairs. The Inn looked like it had before with some new faces and a few that were now becoming familiar to her. After receiving a knowing wink from a large member of the Rabble, she lurked over to the bar in a worreid state. What can have happened last night? Oh I hope I didn't make a fool of myself again. " Err its Littlefair, isn't it? Hope I didn't cause any damage last night. I'm willing to pay for any and all breakages. Also, you wouldn't know where my companion has gone, you know, the one that was stiff as a board. He seems to have disappearded." ******************************************************************************** Melandra Flametree, Lady Wizardess * Internet: mcspikgfm@dct.ac.uk Pyrolator, Princess of Vyalia * Janet : mcspikgfm@uk.ac.Dundee-Tech & Slightly Insane Elf.."Boom..Fun!" * Dundee College of Technology, Scotland. ********************************************************************************
