Seeing his companion fall, Garriot cried, "Not again--I won't let it happen
again!"  With a roar of rage (and roar is the operative word here--not a shout,
not a cry, but a ROAR!), he drew his sword.  Crying out in some strange language
which none of his companions have heard before, he rushed into battle.  The
last his companions saw before the rest of the combatants were upon them was
Garriot locked in combat with one of the tiger creatures, his sword out
of reach on the ground...
