His entire body hurt, and he smelled smoke. Then he remembered the fight. He looked up to see Sike's body lying a few feet away. Sike had landed on his back, with Kyar's scimitar stuck through his throat into the ground below. Kyar stood up slowly. He walked over to Sike's body and pulled his scimitar out of it. With a flick of his wrist, the blood was flicked from the blade, and he sheathed it, turning his back on Sike and walking back towards his horse. Several days later, he reigned in on a low rise before the city of Generica. He looked at the city for a while, then flicked the reigns to get his horse moving again. He had sold his chain armor in the small village for a handful of gold shekels, but he had no idea how much staying in the city would cost him. "I will have to find some kind of work." he said to himself. A few minutes later he reigned in at the East Gates of the city. The gaurds there appeared to be quite bored, and ignored him completely. He walked over to one of them, trying to get his attention. "Excuse me, sir. Could you tell me where to find a good inn in the city, where I might also find someone looking for a sell-sword?" "Yeah, the Dragons-Inn is right down this street," the gaurd said, pointing. "You can't miss it." "Thanks." Kyar got back on his horse and rode on down the street. A short time later, he found the inn. He dismounted, and led his horse into the stables next to the inn. He took care of the animal, and then walked over to the door of the inn. "Maybe I'll find someone here who can help me get my memory back." he said to himself, then walked inside. ________________________ Jason Rosenberger, rosenje@wkuvx1.bitnet "It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man" "Whenever I'm sitting someplace, and something flies across the room and attaches itself to some guy's neck, and he screams and tries to get it off, I've gotta laugh, cause . . . what the hell _is_ that thing?"
