It was fairly early in the afternoon, so he was quite surprised to see so many individuals inside. Kyar looked down at his shabby clothes and torn boots. He knew he didn't look like much next to some of the well dressed individuals present in the inn, but he still hoped he could find some type of mercenary employment. He scratched his chin in frustration. The main room to the inn seemed to have nearly two dozen dark corners. He also found that he could see into the shadows in the corners, but after one dark glance was returned he decided that it was a bad idea to do so. He moved to the bar and spoke to the barmaid, a rather attractive young woman with a baby. He obtained a nights lodging and a mug of stout ale and sat down at a table, well away from any mysterious corners. He sipped at the ale and noted that it was very good, not watered down at all. No wonder the Inn had so many dedicated patrons. He pulled the small medallion hanging around his neck up where he could look at it. "The Phadra..." he muttered to himself. He recalled the battle he had fought a few days before, when he had caught himself uttering a quick prayer of luck to an unknown diety. He realized that he must have somehow triggered some part of his lost memory. He stared at the medallion, struggling to remember, when it suddenly flashed with an intense blue light. He cried out in pain as his chair tipped over backwards, throwing him to the floor. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jason Rosenberger, rosenje@wkuvx1.bitnet, Phone (502) 745-6617 "It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man"-- Jack Handey
