Turning down a side street to bypass the few people gathered around the
crater where the guards use to be Scott came to a quick stop. From the
shadows stepped two human forms. Relaxing some Scott brushed his sword
slightly and in doing so undid the catch on it.

"Well hello good mercenary." said one of the shadows, "I see that you have
gotten your self a job and with it some advance pay."

"Yes, and by the looks of it you made a very good deal." spoke the other
shadow, "And what could one like you spend all that money on."

"I know," said the first one, "Protection. And its your lucky day because
we happen to be selling protection."

As the first shadow stepped closer to Scott, he could see that the man was
dressed in rags that had garbage stained into it. But Scott could also see
that this was not a bum or a begger. Also Scott felt like someone was behind
him.
Looking at the man who was approaching him, Scott quickly went into action.
Stepping to the right Scott reached out with his left hand and grab the man
pulling him to backside while also drawing his sword. As he was releasing the
first man the crack of a crossbow being fired was heard. Ignoring the sound
Scott continued forward taking a strike at the other person still in the
shadow. Wether the shadow realized what was going on or not one would never
know as Scott's blade sliced throught the shadows throat.
Scott never looked back but kept moving on through the side street to the
other side. Putting away his sword before entering the other street.

Shortly, Scott arrived at the Dragon's Inn, entered and went to the bar.
After ordering a drink and inquiring as to a good place to purchase a horse
Scott paid bill. He went up to his room and gathered his equipment. Writing
writing a note he went back down and out to the stable. He saddle up his war
horse and rode off to purchase a new pack horse.

Returning to the Inn several hours later Scott had two good solid pack horses
in tow. Heading into the stable he loaded up all the equipment on the three
pack horses. Before heading out Scott entered the Inn once more and posted a
note just below his original one.

The above post is still good.

I have currently found temporary employment with
a group needed one of my skill as a mercenary. I should
return here in two weeks and will be seeking employment
at that time again. Post any messages here or leave a message
             with Littlefair at the bar.
                Scott Gillig

With that Scott went to the bar order one last drink and spoke to Littlefair
about the note. Turning Scott left the bar and mounted up. Heading off to the
south Scott slowly left town. Not obviously looking but paying close attention
to any who might follow him.

As Scott reached the gate one of the guard approached him. Stopping the guard
asked, "You there, where you headed and do you have anything to declare?"

Scott pulled up, looked the guard in the eye and answered, "I am headed of to
the city of Specifica of Sugars. I am seeking employment in the baggage trains
that will be coming from there this spring."

The guard looking over Scott and his four horses, "Think you got enough horses
and equipment there? That's alot for one person to be traveling with."

"There's no telling what I might needed out there between here and that city.
If there is nothing else I'd like to be heading on out."

"Sure, sure. And good luck, cause your going to needed."

Scott then rode on out of the city and kept going till the city of Generica
was several hours behind him and then he turned east for an hour then northeast
to met up with the group that hired him.

*************

Shortly after Scott passed through the south gate a hooded figure approached the
gate guard that had talked to Scott.

[Guard where did that man with the horse say he was headed of too?]

"I sorry what did you say?"

[TELL ME WHERE THE MAN WITH THE FOUR HORSE WAS HEADING.]

The guard was going to just ignore the hooded man until he looked into the
hood. The guard stopped moving and answered, "He said he was headed to Specifica of
Sugars to hire on as guard for the trains."

[Ahh, so they have been betried by the mercenary. Good I can use that to my
advantage. You guard, go back to your duties and remember non of this or that
man with the horses ever passed through here. ]

The guard relaxed some and turned back to his post wondering what he had just
been thinking about. And the hooded figure disappeared into the crowd, laughing.
