This statement almost caused Palandun to spit up his chicken. He somehow managed to conceal his astonishment and continue the conversation in a normal fashion. "Friends, huh? How do you mean, friends?" A messenger slid in and handed him a note, informing him of the death of Karl the quartermaster. Palandun had never met Karl, but somehow had a sneaking suspicion that this was a nasty blow for generica. He would have to remember to find the family and offer his condolences.
