His face slackened and his mind numbed in awe of the surroundings. ***** Sight. Images scattershot across the eye. Of light bright enough to be felt. Of colors vibrant with a life of their own. Of clarity so acute, it brings pain. Sound. The ear echoes to the music of life about. Animals flitting through forest. Ethereal strains from the creatures who seek shelter here. Smell. A myriad of scents assault the nose. The rich, deep aroma of loam. Perfume from flowers unlike any known to mortals. A variety of life, riotous in its abundance. Taste. Breezes carry tid-bits to the tastebuds. A bountiful harvest of fruits and vegetables. The mouth-watering feeling of fresh meat. Touch. The entire body is blanketed in sensation. Warmth from the air about. Air caressing skin. Grass crunching underfoot. ***** All this and more flowed through and over Thaddius. The half-elf was a mortal in a land of faerie. Such transitions were possible, but never without a price. Thad strove to find a center, to maintain a balance against the assault on his sense. With a jolt, the bard returned to the reality around him. --- Across the glade sat a slight women. She held Longflyer on one wrist. The hawk seemed to be carrying on an animated conversation with her. As Thad came to his senses, the She turned to him. "Greetings, mortal. Come, sit and tell me of yourself," she bade. "My servants Pheu and Longflyer feel you may be of some assistance to me.
