After an interview with their Majesties, Shade is allowed the freedom of the city as long as he does not try to escape. He is kept as an honoured guest to Duke Meelaun and his daughter Shanni. The Dark One also knows that the powerful Court-Wizard Shuulaine is playing a game of his own here. ...continued... Meelaun had told Shade... -You may come and go as you please from this place, you may not enter the Royal Palace nor may you venture close to any of our exits. If you do and get caught you may be killed on sight by the guards.... When they leave the tall white building the Dark One feels better than he has in a long time.... Shanni was delighted to guide Shade around the city, and Shade was happy with the company. The city mainly contained low buildings, but Shade could see that it was not due to lack of availible height in- side the gigantic dome. -Shanni, why are most of the buildings so low. I mean there is surely space to build them higher...? -I don't know...it has always been so... She smiles at Shade and points out another big sprawling building, surrounded by walls. -Here are the barracks were we train our warriors.... As they return to Meelauns house, the overhead is slowly getting darker as if night was closing in. The Dark One looks up towards the sky and comments on this to Shanni... -We have days and nights just like it was before the great War...why ? ...the Dark One smiles.... -Just an observation.... After a nice dinner in the company of the Duke and his daughter Shade withdraws early. Coming back into his room he carefully closes the doors, then he lays down on the bed and slowly drifts away..... ....fading....fading....faces...familiar faces...old friends...dead friends...new friends...familiar...aahhh....green light..familiar face surrounded by green light....Radan..where are you ?...sails... the sea...ships...fire...burning fire...monsters...have to save my friends...water...cold...lights...light...voices... ...the Dark One sits up, his eyes wide open. He slowly shakes his head. "What was this...just relaxing a little...and all these visions come floating in...by the Old Ones...I need some fresh air..." Shade rises from his bed and opens the doors to the garden outside. It is not completely black, there is no moon, but stars shine in the artificial sky. He hears the sound of the fountain in the garden.
