Message-ID: <1993Oct6.110717.7822@wkuvx1> Date: 6 Oct 93 11:07:17 CDT Dervanis stood and took a few steps over to Zebron and Mitchell's table. "Gentlemen, the most perfect drink ever to be created is this!" he said, holding up his wineglass. "Elvenblossom wine! I can only tell you legends of how it is made, for the elves allow no outsiders to participate in its making. However, my greatgrandmother on my mother's side of the family was of that fair race, and used to entertain me with stories of them when I was but a child. The wine can be made only once every 10 years, when the great silver trees, the Aurichlyn, are blossoming. On a night with a full moon, only the fairest and purest elven maidens go forth into the great groves of the shining silver trees, carefully gathering only the finest blossoms. These blossoms are then collected in a great bowl crafted of pure silver. They are gently pressed to release their juice, and then are scattered in the groves of the Aurichlyn. The liquid is then allowed to ferment in a clearing under the moonlight-- It is said that the moonlight is absorbed into the drink. The winemakers then collect the liquid, using their own secret magics to complete the process of its fermentation. The result is a slightly pink tinged clear liquid that is a pleasure merely to behold, much less to consume! Some folk in my father's employ used to say that it had healing properties, and even magical properties that can affect non-elves in mysterious ways. I know nothing of the truth of these statements, although I can say that consuming large quanitities of the drink can make even everyday experiences seem mysterious! No other drink goes down so smoothly, and its taste, even its mere aroma, is above other beverages as the gods are to men! It is truly the finest drink one could ever have!" So saying, he raised his glass to Zebron, then Mitchell, then tipped it back, finishing the last of it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jason Rosenberger, rosenje@wkuvx1.bitnet, Western Ky University
