Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn From: hutch@ibeam.intel.com (Steve Hutchison) Subject: [LH] ADMIN notes about the Party Message-ID: Date: Wed, 13 Oct 1993 23:42:21 GMT This is a big ADMIN note. Folks, as you may recall, we've been wybbling about having a party happen in the LightHouse. Well, it's time to take the dilemma by the horns and get on with it. Despite early confusions, the party IS the evening of the day when Br'Nai got fried. Andrea comes back from wandering Kron Park on one of the days before. So Chris (Wolvie)'s admin note is off but not harmful, and there's no reason for them to timewarp anyone. For the party, the layout of the lighthouse main room has been tweaked a little. The room itself is now about 60 meters in diameter. The north wall, which is usually blank except for the door to the hallway where they keep the kitchen and guest rooms, now has a series of seven 12 foot high arches that lead into small drawing rooms that have been furnished with comfortable couches and tables, places where people can sit in groups of three and four to talk without being drowned out by the sounds of the party. Where the 1/3 panoramic plate "glass" window was located is a four panel window, the left-most showing the sky as it was when the party started, with the sun just setting, the next one 15 minutes later, and the one after that 10 minutes later. This gives a "sunset" display for people to enjoy. The right-most window shows what's really out there. There's a deck with a view of the ocean (and a windscreen to keep the nastier cold winds from getting in) which can be reached from the north or south doors by the windows. The band is set up by a wooden dance floor (and in front of the only access to the garage) and is somewhat sullen at being asked to play music appropriate to the occasion. They're hoping enough people will request Drumsong that they can declare it "public demand". The main area also has a number of couches, two fireplace pits, and an "illusion theatre" which is about a yard across, and which can be used for various games. Each "pit" and the "theatre" have couches around them. The room is well lit, but not so bright as to be blinding. The door to the kitchen/living quarters is still present, but only leads to the dining room where 5 transparent servants that Ilya conjured, are preparing and serving the foods that the crowd was cooking in the earlier post. Residents and guests can still reach their rooms, the corridor just doesn't exist for the other guests, and there are fewer rooms down the hall than usual. Food consists of all variety of snacks: the easier dimsum, tapas, and other snacks and delicacies that are not too unlike what people in Generica are used to, chips of various kinds served with dips of various kinds, small sweet cakes and pies, mild and not so mild drinks, and so forth. The LittleFairs have also provided a roast haunch of something large and unusual. There are four categories of people showing up. First, there are folks who are "out of town" (i.e. OutPlanar) friends. You know who you are, or I know who they are. Second, there are locals, including mage guild members and some of the more influential behind-the-scenes folk. However, these are the sensible folk and not the noxious ones. Third, there are parents and relatives of the children that were influenced by the Br'Nai. Before they go to the party itself, they are taken to a private room, en-masse, via tricks with time across the teleport gate to make things synch up better, and Father Howard explains to them what happened to the children, and how long they'll be needing the mindhealers before they can safely go home, for the ones who have homes left to go to. We probably won't do the whole scene for this but we will mention it in passing. Fourth, there are parents and relatives of the people that 'Raf transformed in the street dance, who are similarly being collected and shown to a meeting room, where 'Raf is defusing any heat over things that happened, and making any adjustments required to keep families happy, within reason. He's told them upfront that he can not change anyone back. I'll be writing a scene of this. Now, as for PC's and critical NPC's that we KNOW will be here: Luthor Anside, Serene of the Fog, and Mista (and possibly Captain). Kardia Xvaramene, Kadrys, Jameson Walker, Erik First Shade of Cormyr. Krupp Faraway, Andrea and Sheryl, Sir Lance and Blaze, Teonyl (one of Alfvaen's horde), Selna (elven sorceress/shapeshifter/monster) and possibly William of Tell (the younger). Dougl is possibly going to show up (if only in brief cameo) and Alan Smith had said something about Palandun maybe showing ?? Also _possibly_ Crombie Knaks, or Errol (the gardener), or both. And Kron aka The Green, has definitely been invited even though he probably won't show up unless HWRNMNBSOL actually gets time to write something. Rowan and Mary LittleFair have been invited to visit, but they are fairly busy right now so probably won't show until late night since they do close down to "maintenance" mode after a while. ...sage, Urcohea, Rivy, and Leonaco will probably show up. Dasham probably WON'T show up, and some other Guild folk are invited. We still hope Thorn won't accept the invite, since we distrust him intensely. For party guidelines -- We're going to try to do "interactive" posts with the following trick. First, since not everyone has fast net access, either do a one-or-two-person email back and forth until you have an article you consider long enough, or if you intend to do a scene, and you write someone else's reaction, send them a copy to veto before you send it out. Ideally, in any case, send ME and THEM a copy, so that reactions can happen quickly. I'm putting together a temporary alias for people at the party, which I'll be glad to relay and broadcast on. Party On, people!
