Gebo Othila Perth
Down into the forest he went, food again on his mind. As he quietly wound
his way through the trees, he looked for edible plants and signs of the Elk
he had come to hunt.

Up ahead in the low growth there was some rustling. As Jarl moved
cautiously closer he saw the Masked One, a Raccoon, intently concentrating
on something between its paws. It was unaware of Jarl's stealthy approach,
and when he grabbed, it schrieked in surprise. Then it was gone and Jarl
was left with a rather large fish at his feet. Looking around the Thief was
no where to be found. Praising his good fortune, Jarl devoured the trout
and was on his way.

He spent most of the night exploring the small valley, getting to know the
terrain and patterns of life a little better. He found several types of
edible plants and a few of medicinal value, he made note of their location.
Jarl tried fishing in the stream again, but to no avail, and he decided to
look for eggs in the nests of ground dwelling birds. It was too late in the
year for eggs, but Jarl found feathers he could use for flutings on the
arrows he was going to make.

The nights jaunt had been fruitful, yielding; food, information, and
materials, all of which he needed. The return trip to the camp took longer
than Jarl expected, he thought that he must have gone further than he
remembered. Some distance from his camp, Jarl saw wisps of smoke.
Chastizing himself for such foolishness as to leave an unattended fire, he
hurried back the rest of the way.

Upon breaking through the underbrush, Jarl was startled to see a giant
sleeping by his fire. The giant was large, maybe five times Jarl's height,
with wild hair and a rough hide. At its hip was a large blade almost a big
as Jarl. He had heard tales of giants but never actually seen one, and it
was quite imposing in it's appearence. What was the proper course of
action? was this a man eating giant? could Jarl evn hope to scream before
he was smashed? This developement was most distressing and Jarl quickly
became agitated. Suddenly the giant rolled so that it faced Jarl, the sight
was so unnerving that Jarl let out a yell and the giant woke. Looking
across the fire pit, Jarl saw a ringed tail slip into the forest, as a
flurry of feathers settled to the ground.......
