"From what I know of these > things, this path should eventually get us back to Nexus. > But if we go through other dimensions of Hell first, it could > be rough going. There's no telling what we might run into. > You shouldn't trust all your senses. The important thing to > remember is to keep moving forward." > Rathan spoke ominously. "One more thing of import. > We will be traveling through many Shadows, uh Dimensions, > of Hell. If you stop along the way you may wind up lost and > therefore stuck in Hell forever. And I don't know if we > will be able to find you again." > "There is little sense in waiting," Tomonobu said, "soon > enough those persons will be done with Pericles, and I doubt we > would be able to draw them away again." He walked up to the > Gate and, without flinching, stepped in. > Slowly, one by one, the rest of the party did the same, and > strode into the realms of Hell. Rathan stepped through the gate to find himself in a mist enshrouded swamp. "Hmm, it looks like the others are in another Shadow." A tiny red spider sitting on Rathan's shoulder speaks up, "Umm, Boss? Don't 'cha think ya should check up on the others?" "[YAWN] Oh, very well." The surfer spent a very long time summoning forth the waves of chaos that formed the sign of the Logrus. Snaking forth the tendrils of the Logrus through the various shadows of Hell, Rathan searched for his missing companions. A Lens blossomed from each tendril and Rathan watched: As Tomonobu strode across a bridge over nothingness; As Ja'nis spoke with Lizardpeople; As Moria and Bluestar have a spat; As Billy strode along in mist; As Turion watched the others; As Matte sat in a room. Rathan releases the energies of the Logrus as he turns to his Blood spider, "[YAWN] It looks like they're OK. I think I'll just find a nice sunny spot and take a nap." And with that said Rathan strode through the swamp. 'Let's see, the mist should get thinner ahead.' As Rathan strode along the mist did indeed get thinner. 'Now, it will get brighter.' The ambient light did increase as the duo walked through the swamp. As Rathan strode along he was slowly metamorphising into a swamp elemental. 'Around the next copse of banyans there will be a sunny clearing just right for a swamp elemental to sleep in.' Surprisingly enough Rathan was right. "Uh, Boss? Were we just traversing through Shadow just now?" "Of course. Like we would ever find a sunny clearing in that other swamp. Now let me take my nap." ******************************************************************** Images of a yellow brick road with fantastic creatures flashed through Rathan's mind as he slept. Suddenly Rathan burst to his feet as a demonic insectoid. "What-?" "Don't worry Boss. It was just a dream." "It was so real, like I had...lived it before. Nevermind, it was just a dream of when I was insane. So how long was I asleep?" "Comatose would be a better term. It must have been days. It was long enough for me to spin that web and catch several big and tasty insects, uh present company excepted." "Well, at least I'm healed. We might as well find the others." Rathan spent the next several minutes searching for his companions when he dropped the Logrus and turned paler than a sheet. (An impressive feat for an insect.) "Fire- Fire- Fire-!" "C'mon Boss, spit it out. What is it? A swamp-fire? Surely we can handle that." "Fire Angel. Big, nasty assassin creature from the Courts sent out to hunt down one's enemies through Shadow." "Courts?" "Courts of Chaos. It's where the Logrus is. The creature sensed my Logrus tendril. I think now would be a good time to flee." Rathan begins a full scale sprint as he changes the colors in the background. "Uh, Why?" "It's lunchtime and we're lunch." Several minute's later, "Hmm, Boss?" "Yeah?" "Would now be a good time to point out some bad news?" "What is it?" "The Fire Angel is gaining on us." "Oh Sh- Uhhfff," Rathan grunts as he runs into a large and angry looking Pit Fiend. "Balor wasn't?" Shake. "Baskora?" Rathan asks timidly. Nod. [Cracking of knuckles] "I know you are upset with me, but did you know that guy over there said that your mother wears combat boots and dresses you funny?" The Pit Fiend stomps over to confront the Fire Angel. "Uh, Boss? Wouldn't now be a good time to leave?" "Just a moment I have to leave a false trail." Rathan summons forth a Logrus tendril and use it to send a rock through the far reaches of Shadow. The Insectoid then teleports to a gleaming red ocean. "Shall we go surfing? The Blood Sea has the best waves." "Shouldn't we be looking for your companions?" "Oh, but we shall. Don't you know that best way to travel through Shadow is to surf. Besides here is and excellent surfboard just built for an insectoid." "That looks just like any other surfboard." "Look if I know anything at all, it is about surfboards. Now let's go surfing." After finding a good crest, Rathan once again begins his search for his companions. "Ah, I found them. In a couple of minutes we should be-AAarrggh." [Sproing] [Splat] A look of complete surprise is on everyone of Rathan's companions as a large insectoid resembling a thri-kreen with elbow spikes and without a thorax wearing flowered Jams materializes about waist high on a surfboard and proceeds to sail across the room. Upon striking the wall the surfboard sticks in with a sproing, and Rathan is sent face first into the wall only to tumble onto the floor. "Ooohh. I'm here." "Boss!" a tiny voice squeals, "Get off me!" "Oh, sorry." -Morning Reaper _________________________________________________________________ |Under renovation| This Advertising Space for sale | |Should be done | Send contributions to: | |By late Oct. or | SWV3752@ritvax.isc.rit.edu | |May of '95 | | -----------------------------------------------------------------
