Lines: 58 In the twilight between day and night the hooded figure moved from the deep shadows of the alleyway toward the less concealing darkness at its mouth and studied the building called the Dragons Inn. The rain began to fall in a slow drizzle as the traveller peered from the shadows. The figure was dressed in a dark travelling cloak pulled tightly around him to ward off the cold and the rain. His dark eyes glittering in the falling light. The dragons inn stood with its doors open and the sound of laughter and loud talk waifted out onto the street. The figure watched with apprehension as the city guard approached. Quickly and with the movements of a wraith the figure returned to the darkness of the alleyway. "Feh, I lost over 30 gold coins in Telik's crooked game." Muttered one of the guards ^f The other guard smiled wryly and clutched at his own coin purse, heavy with the coins its contained. Both were dressed in the traditional garb of the City watch. Wearing Chain armor and armed with long swords. The one that had spoken also carried a crossbow. "Perhaps we should see a cleric of Laiel." The other guard joked. "You can laugh, Tamrin, your purse is full." Said the one with the crossbow. He stopped and looked down the alleyway in which the traveller was hidden. The guard identified as Tamrin stood looking around as the other guard examind the alleyway. After a cursory examination he rejoined Tamrin and both continued down the street. They continued to speak in low tones at they moved out of sight. After the guards had moved on, the traveller moved back to the mouth of the alley and looked up and down the street. The early evening activities of the town began in earnest. Down the road to the south the traveller could see the oil wagon with its driver lighting the oil lanterns that lit the road in pale lamplight near the merchants quarter. A few towns people could be seen scurrying home and out of the light rain fall. The travellers eyes were again turned toward the Dragons inn. Stumbling out the door of the Inn was a man dressed in the strange garb of a wizard. to be continued......
