The door to the inn creeked open and a cool breeze wafted fresh
air into the darkened room, but no one entered. The bar tender appeared
upset, mumbling something about demonic-children in the neighborhood and
how he was "going to fix them with a meat cleaver." Grudgingly, the
tender went to close the door and as he turned around two emerald eyes
stared him down.
The man was about six foot, but fairly slender for his height.
The emerald eyes were a clear contrast to the elves dark skin and white
hair. The tender realized the stranger was looking him over just as
carefully, and understood why the door had been opened but no one walked
in. This was a dark elf, easily slipping through the entrance and into
the shadows without being discovered.
"Hello, I am Pierce.", the strangers lilted dialect showed a shaky
grasp of the human language, but it was understandable enough.
"Well sir, I'm glad to know you. You could use a drink and meal
I'd say." With that the tender waved the elf to a table and went to fetch
the meal.
Pierce took a seat near the door and examined the dimly lit room.
The tender returned with a jug of ale and plate of lamb. The food wasn't
the greatest, but it was a warm meal, and, best of all, Pierce didn't have to
hunt it down first. He tore straight into his meal after a short nod to
the tender and an approving smile.
