		[JOI - Segoi] The Awakening.

		by: Mr. Sinister...	- Segoi.

Synopsis: After reaching Aleric and his companions, Segoi
finds him close to death after receiving wounds from varied opponents.

__________

Segoi looked down on the prone form of Aleric, bound hand and foot to
the ground. Removing a glove from his hand, he bent down, and with a claw
slit the shirt away from the injured shoulder of Aleric. He examined the wound
left by the ghoul.

"Aleric my boy, you do know how to get into scrapes don't you,"
Segoi smiled as he said this and the form of Aleric shifted.

Building a circle of stones, Segoi quickly lit a fire of brush wood,
and reaching into his cloak threw on some leaves. A puff of smoke, and the
sweet smell of herbs filled the air. Removing his pack and cloak he laid the
latter to one side, and taking the pack begin fishing in it for something. He
took out a small stone mortar and pestle, some other herbs, and a book. Sitting
down in front of the fire he opened the book and began to read, occasionally
taking a herb and dropping it into the bowl or fire. After a few minutes he
drew forth a small vial from his pack and poured its contents into the mortar.
Dropping in a few more herbs, he ground them into a paste, and adding a little
water, Segoi turned to Aleric with the mixture.

"We need you awake for this," he said as he grasped the air
before Aleric's face and pulled back.

Alerics eyes snapped open and his head shot up. Segoi took the bowl
and placed it to his lips.

		"Drink!" he rumbled at Aleric.

Aleric did so, and Segoi waited until he had drained the whole potion.
Putting his head back down, he began to chant. The language was strange
full of long notes, thrums, and other sounds as unhuman as the wind. As the
chanting continued, a soft glow began at the injured shoulder, spreading across
the body, until Aleric was completly covered. Seeing this Segoi opened his
arms in a gesture of invocation, looking up at the roof of the cave, or as it
seemed past it.

Outside the mouth of the cave the others waited. None of them seemed
to notice yet the tenseness in the air. It seemed charged as if it would
explode at the slightest sound.

Segoi raised up his chant in a great voice, as between his arms a white
oval was forming. The sound of his voice amplified by the cave shot out into
the world carrying the chant with it.

The sound of this startled the companions who waited, anxiously for new
developments. All turned to the cave mouth that was suddenly glowing with a
blinding white light, shielding their eyes.

With what was more a roar than any musical note, Segoi finished his
chant and flung his arms apart speaking one word.

		"T'Ryllthamir!"

The word resounded off the walls of the cave, small rocks began to
tremble as it grew shaking loose from their place. Outside the companions
backed away from the cave at the noise from within. Then it came. The word
loosed by Segoi issued out into the world and brought all its chaos with it.
The ground began to shake, the trees to quiver, stones rolled away from the
mouth of the cave, and still it continued. Out across the vale like a ray of
light it flew and all evil cowered in its path. The night haunts fled and
covered their ears, far away in the tower of Highspire the Shekiren cringed at
the name seeking the dark places in which to hide, and the one sword thrumed in
return.

Segoi fell silent and waited, listening, watching the glowing oval
before him. Suddenly he felt that his call had been answered, somewhere far
away something moved, stirred into conscious thought again after lying dorment
for centuries. The portal before him grew wider, and Segoi moved back away
from it to a stone near Aleric.

From the portal a figure materialized, stepping through into the realm
of the living again. It looked like a woman of great bearing and nobility, her
long blond hair fell in a brade to her waist, and she was dressed in battle
gear. In one hand was a spear, and in the other a shield, strapped to her
waist was a sword, and her breast plate shown like the sun.

"Who calls me from my slumber, to this wretched world again!"
she demanded.

Segoi just watched her, looking with a calm gaze into her blue eyes.
She walked over to him as he stood in greeting.

"Hail T'Ryllthamir, Huntress of Light! There is much honor in
your form of Lyorn."

"Hail Segoi, world shaper. There is even more in your form of
mortal being. Why do you bring me back into a world where I am forgotten?"

	Segoi pointed to Aleric.

		"It is time."

The goddess, Ryll, who was easily as tall as Segoi, stooped to
look at Aleric. Reaching out she lifted him into a sitting position. He
lolled half awake, eyes rolling in his head. A smile crossed her lips as she
gently kissed his eyes and forehead, then laying her hand on his shoulder
stood.

		"He will live."

"I have no doubt of that," replied Segoi, "but what of the rest
of his people, scattered, lost. They need to believe again."

		"And so they shall."

With this the goddess turned and walked towards the opening in the
rocks. The rocks moved apart, widening the gap to allow her clear passage.
Stepping out of the cave she stood under the sky looking up to the grey clouds.
Then lifting her spear she drew back and hurled it, like a bolt of lightning
towards them. The spear disappeared into the swirrling mists and was lost to
sight. Again there was great noise like a thunder clap and the clouds split
apart, and the sun poured down on to the hills.
