ADMIN2: Copyright 1994 by "The Dreamer" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Where do you want these?" "Pardon?" "I've brought the ten tables you ordered. Where would you like me to put them?" Luthor unrolled his scroll and frowned. "I'm sure I ordered eleven tables, not ten. Are you sure that there are no others in the wagon?" The man to whom he spoke only shrugged. "Sorry sir. I only deliver what they give me at the warehouse. If there are only ten here, then you only get ten." Luthor grinned. "Well, I'm sure that I ordered more than ten. THERE COULD BE ELEVEN TABLES you know. I'll count as you and your men unload them," said Luthor with some of his words echoing strangely off the other Elven manors nearby. The foreman and his workers began taking the oak tables from the back of the large delivery wagon and moving them inside Luthor's House-Tree, ShadeHaven. As they went about their work, he told them where to put the tables according to the floor plan drawn on his small scroll. "Beggin' yer pardon sir. I seem to 'ave found the other table. It was under this 'ere blanket in the back," called one of the workers when the wagon was nearly empty. "Thank you Skudder." The foreman flushed slightly. "Well, Mr. Anside, looks like you have all your tables after all. My mistake." "No need to apologize man. Now, how much do I owe you?" Luthor reached into his BLACK cloak and pulled forth a small bag that jingled with the unmistakable sound of gold. "You don't owe us a thing sir. Mr. Chi has already paid us in advance." The foreman took out a small slip of paper. "You will have to sign here ... showing that you received the tables." Luthor took a moment to sign the paper. Then he removed a few of the coins from the pouch and handed them to the foreman. "For you and your men. Also, if you would like to join us tonight, we are having a little party. You may bring your families as well." "Very kind of you sir." The foreman gave a small bow and then gathered his men for the return trip. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- "Where do you want them?" "Who?" "The bands. They've began arriving and want to know where to set up," said Captain. Behind him stood two groups of people. The first were dark skinned humans in brightly colored clothing...the group from Serene's homeland. The other was a group of Golden Elves in ornate yet comfortable robes of soothing pastel color...the group from Luthor's own home. "Welcome friends! I was thinking of having the Elves play first as the guests arrive and then --" Luthor began. "If it's all the same to you Lord Anside, we have worked out a schedule that we have all agreed upon," interrupted one of the Elves. "You have?" The leader of humans patted the Elf on the back. "Since our last visit here, Marcus and I have been keeping in touch. First it was just arguing about what happened at the last party, then we started talking about music and that brought us together. There are a few things we would like to try at this party ... with your permission, of course." Luthor's eyebrows arched. "What kind of things?" "Adrelle and I have been working on a few songs that blend the two styles. I didn't think it would work, but the result has been pretty amazing." Marcus smiled. The excitement in his eyes was easy to read. "I trust you completely old friend." Luthor pointed to a corner of the ballroom. "That is where you will be playing this year. I've had the tree grow and adjust the harmonics of the room, so it should be an improvement over last year." "Thank you Lord Anside, it is an honor to play for you again." Marcus bowed gracefully. "Oh, stop that. Here, I'm nothing more than a Shade pretending to be a vineyard owner. Now if you will excuse me, I have a few other matters to attend to." -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- "Where do you want this?" Luthor looked up from his drawings and watched the graceful auburn- haired woman walk toward him. "Sorry dear, what did you say?" "Where do you want this? It looks a bit too fragile to leave out." Serene held an ornately painted vase showing a forest scene with two Golden Elves in the foreground standing behind a child in the midst of singing. Luthor took it from Serene and cradled gently it in his arms. He ran his fingers over the delicate relief of the paint on the vase and smiled -- then he threw the vase over his shoulder. "LUTHOR!" Serene cried out and then watched in horror as it fell to the floor ... and bounced with a beautiful chiming sound. Luthor caught it on the rebound. "This vase has been in my family longer than Generica has been on the map. After a few centuries, someone was wise enough to make it unbreakable which was an awfully good idea, especially considering the historical clumbsiness of the Anside men." He chuckled to himself. Serene watched him for a few seconds. "You're in an unusually good mood today." "Of course, my love! Tonight, we are throwing a party. We will be surrounded by friends, music, laughter, and good food. What more is there to life than that? Tonight we will dance to our heart's content and sing until dawn!" Luthor threw his arms around Serene and swung her around. They laughed and hugged each other for a moment and then parted. There was still much to do before the night began. AMDIN: This is the party to celebrate the second anniversary of APDI (whose birthday is today, May 12th). Everyone is invited to the party as long as you show respect for the house and the guests therein. There is a certain group of naughty rangers who crashed the party last year...they are not invited back. What will be there: Food - from light snacks to full meals. Pitza will be supplied from the 'kan's recipies. Drink - Wine, beer, water, and Zima are the main beverages although Serene (with her ability to guess any guests' drink) has a well-stocked bar and will call upon the Dragon's Inn for reinforcements if necessary. Music - The Elven music is like chamber music, or the more soothing stuff of Enya. The Human band is very tribal...with a heavy beat and nearly Caribean tone. The mixture is sometimes tribal, sometimes soothing...like Clannad or Enigma. Any other musicians out there are welcome to have a go as well. Entertainment - Whatever you would like to do, we'll do it. Erik was going to show off a bit by having the Aurora show up for a midnight light show. Luthor will be off in a corner telling stories with a glass of wine in his hand or dancing with Serene. This party will last 24 hours in Generican time, but as long as we want in our time, so don't feel pressure to post everything in one day. Most importantly, have fun! Love and Peace and Get-Togethers, -The Dreamer-
