As they trotted up the path leading to where Luthor's house
was, Firecat and Shadow could hear the music, laughter and good cheer
emenating from the place. Firecat had a massive grin on his face and
Shadow's tongue was lolling out to one side in the wolfish imitation
of a human grin. They both liked Luthor and enjoyed his company
immensely.

Speaking into Shadow's ear, Firecat brought her to a halt
about a three hundred metres from Luthor's place,
"I have an idea. You run beside me and I'll change form - as a
sort of a surprise." He said with a grin as he tied a bottle shaped
package to Shadows back.
Making the transformation into the form of a flaming tiger
within seconds, they were both running easily towards the party on
swift feet, bunching and stretching in long strides, perfectly
matched.
As they drew near the party, some of those whohadn't seen
these two before began backing away and whispering nervously behind
their hands as the two companions jogged onto the front lawn.

Luthor stepped out of the house and smiled.
"You should be more careful in the garden Fircat, you're
singeing my plants." He said in a good natured voice.

Shifting back to his normal gnome form, Firecat said,
"My apologies old friend, but I heard there was a celebration
of some kind underway and you know how these things attract Shadow and
myself..." with a shrug, "Oh and sorry about the flowers..."
Tacking the package from Shadow he offered it to Luthor.
"A gift from an old friend....be careful not to drink too much
in one sitting as it has strange effects on those who do. It is an
ancient vintage of a gnomish spirit made by my family a long, long
time ago...as far as I know there are only about a dozen bottles in
existance, most of which I own." Then with a grin "the other's of
which I have drunk."
	"Now where's this party?"
