Nearly four hours after leaning back in his chair the newcomer leans forward
and listens to the man at the bar. After a few thoughtful moments the new-
comer rises and moves to an available table and with a gentle voice tells his
tale:

"Well, my Electric friend, You may call me Tem'pral. I have spoken of gems and
adventure. Though before I tell you of the rewards, let me please tell you of
the perils.

I am miner by trade, and a bit of a scholar. I come from a place most distant
from here. A place neither attainable by ship nor by road. In my most recent
mining expedition there was a shifting in the earth and a large cavern opened
at the farthest reaches of the mine. A few of my men investigated and found
a high wall in the middle of the cavern with many portal upon the surface.
Not just mere doorways, but portals to other locations, and other times.
Before we could even consider what to do next a beast came through a portal.
It ate with seven heads and just as many claws. My men and i never did manage
to kill the beast but lured it into another portal and it disappeared. We
have encountered one other beast like it, and several others that that we
likewise could not identify. Our only saving grace seems to be sheer numbers.

Now you probably wonder why we would explore portals to unknown ares with such
dangers lying in wait. Well, we found a portal leading to another cave in
which there are plants that look like gems. In all respects they are plants,
until we pick the gems and bring them back. the real problem is that the
portal to this is open only briefly and is unpredictable as to when it will
open. The other major problem is that there seems to be only a limited amount
of breathable air, so therefor we cannot leave someone there to harvest.

What I need now is help in staying the random beasts, and protecting my men.

Well? What say you."

At that the bearded man leans back in his chair and props his feet on the
table and listens for a reply.
