Jones nods agreement and says to BD "Good title...I like it! And I like the idea of a tax haven where we can go. Perhaps you could connect me to the local 'business-people' in Krynn?" Grays interjects: > "By the way" he says to Jones "I admire your strategy...Playing both ends > against the middle - Thats good! Jones smiles and says "Fulminate is fine...but I'm speaking of the material Red Mercury, which Zherinovsky referred to in one of his speeches...he said it was a conventional explosive that could be used to create a symmetric compressive wave of power sufficient to initiate a fusion reaction in tritium. [By the way...Zherinovsky of the Russian Republic really *_did_* say that Red Mercury could be used to set off a nuclear explosion!] "However, , Zherinovsky was spreading a little disinformation...actually, the stuff is a mineral... and, it can be mined...now, maybe you can imagine another reason the Company might have an interest in this area...all very profitable for us, if it works out...." > > Do I sense a hint of guerilla warfare here? It will be better if we just corrupt the system, and decapitate the government, as the people cheer our 'reforms'..." Jones responds to the team, saying "Public terminations have always struck me as messy. You've always got 20-20 Charley...the guy who just happens to be awake at 2:00 AM, and sees you stuffing a body into a box. No, I like to do a job where there are a minimum of witnesses. Then, frame somebody...and kill them. Nice and clean. We'll want the Duke to take over for a little while, I think...that's when we'll really crank up our destabilization effort. He'll get blamed by the people for everything going wrong. We'll have to remove the threats to his throne...the nobility and so forth. By then, he'll be an isolated tyrant. The people will demand that he be replaced by the Lord Protector and First Father of the People. And the rest of us, loyal allies and servants of the Lord Protector! Jones continues to Bodger I like your idea about working with contraband...but I think we may well be jumping the gun. Remember, people like to think of their leaders as decent, moral people...dumb, aren't they?...so we need to act clean for a while. What we need to do is get our targets...the priests, the town leaders, the various centers of influence...hooked; compromised. Sure, we can try to do some business in pipeweed...but, to start off with, we don't want to worry about Joe the Farmer. Get a priest started. Then, if he won't do as he's told, we expose him. Elvish Erotica? Same kind of deal. Of course, we'll tell them their secrets are safe with us...and, each time we compromise them, they're in a little deeper. We can infiltrate a local 'house of ill repute'... plant some pipeweed, then arrest the owner...pay the `employees` based on information they get from their clients. Who knows, we might be able to make a priest declare the Lord Protector to be the "true" god! [At this point, Foxmore has offered to act as liason...] Jones chuckles...Foxmore kept coming up with pleasant surprises! Jones finishes, saying "Let's see who the 'weak vessels' are... then hook them...control 'em....and if they're troublesome, we can always arrange for Henderson to 'reach out and touch someone!'
