Even if others would look upon their deeds as those of terrorists and political dissidents, Bodger knew that he was on the side of Good. Good which wasn't afraid to right wrongs and restore the balance of rich and poor, not merely the good that rides poncingly around on a white horse in white armour saying "look at me . . . I'm a paladin - I've got a God on my side, so I must be a good guy!" Bodger shook his head at such superficiality. He hadn't experienced it to such a degree since he last read the Dragonlance Chronicles. Oh well . . . "See you later, BD," he told his titanic terrorist-in-arms, "I'm off to open some minds to the blessings of socialist ideology." The black dragon snorted "And where are you going to do that?" The tatty thaumaturgist simply smiled his lopsided smile "Why, University of course!" He had just made to leave when BD stopped him, blocking his way with a huge talon. "Be careful out there, mortal - there are some who would question what we are doing." Bodger smiled back at him "Thanks, BD - Oh, I almost forgot something . . ." He reached into his brown robe and took out a pouch of dust, sprinkling it onto the dragon, muttering the arcane words "Odi et amo: quare id faciam fortasse requiris. Nescio, sed fieri sentio, et excrucior" BD watched on with amusement in his whale-eyes. "Just warding against fire-elementals and associated perils that may befall you, seeing as how you're looking after our weapons. Oh, and take this . . ." He hung an amulet around one of the dragon's claws. "It's the technology field I've been using to keep our weapons working. It seems friend Grays' phase-shifting is now falling away, and we are back in Generica. It's got a city-sized radius of effect, but it can be countered if someone gets their hands on it - so I'm leaving it with you for safe keeping." Bodger then took off towards Clarehill University CU, waving goodbye to BD as he went. "See you in the funny pages!" he shouted, then, as an afterthought "Try to stay inconspicuous!" and was gone. BD simply sighed, twirled the amulet and settled down to wait - and perhaps to think about his own part in the wide-spread chaos to come. Television is democracy at its ugliest - a vast wasteland that shows you everything and tells you nothing, whilst those who are in charge of it are not so much interested in making a better mousetrap as a worse mouse. - Doug Anderson, The Sydney Morning Herald
