Greye felt someone's eyes on her; she glanced nervously around to
see who might have noticed her. She spotted a black-haired woman sitting
at another table, sharpening daggers and staring intently at her. Greye
shivered involuntarily; 'I'm safe here, I'm safe here,' she thought over
and over, trying to reassure herself. Once she'd gotten over her
original fear she saw that the woman did not appear to have a threatening
expression--merely a curious one. 'Maybe she can help me,' Greye thought
hopefully. She gathered the shreds of her courage around her and rose
from her seat, crossing the room to stand before the other woman at her
table. "Hello," she said softly, her voice barely loud enough to be
heard over the hum of conversation in the common room. "My name is
A--um, Greye," she said, blushing slightly and hoping that the other
woman hadn't heard her mistake. "May I join you?"
