It was the smell of many people living together - the welcome smell of civilization. She self-consciously brushed a dirty yellow strand of hair back out of her eyes, and brushed some of the dust and grime off of her clothes. As if anything short of a hurricane could clean these clothes, she reflected ruefully. Still, it was good to be back in a city, after so many months of wandering through the wilderness. She hefted the backpack which contained her only possession of any worth higher on her shoulders, and looked up at her companion. The Pilgrim was tall, and dressed much the same way as she was, and had a small beard that seemed nicely trimmed, even though he did not seem to take care of it. The Pilgrim had met her during her travels, and the two had agreed to stick together, if for no other reason than convenience. He glanced down at her. "Do you think he's here, then?" He asked, referring to her father, whom she had spent the last few years of her life searching for. Ranne shook her head.
