Tyrloril slid into the seat across form Sleeath and pulled back his
hood so she could see his face, the tips of his ears piercing his long
silver hair. The two sat in silence a moment, sipping their drinks.
The elf did not appear as if he was about to say anything soon, so
Sleeath decided to start the conversation.
"I'm Sleeath," she said, extending a hand across the table.
Instead of shaking it, as had been the intention, Tyrloril brought the
hand to his lips. The act bore no attempt at flattery, the elf was
responding only as he thought was appropriate.
"I am Tyloril," the elf replied as he released the hand. His voice
was soft and Sleeath had to strain to hear him.
"If I'm not prying too much, what brings you to Generica?" Sleeath
asked.
"Curiosity," Tyloril said after a moment. He paused again,
thinking of how best to repsond. He reached into a pocket and
produced a small gold medallion. It was scratched, but the inscribed
image was still visible, a coiled snake surrounded by flames. "I
found this and I am curious as to what the symbol signifies." Tyloril
deliberately kept his sentence short, not sure how much he should
say. He remembered how he had discovered the piece, a few days
ago in the forest. He had found four bodies off the main road. The
corpses had been burned until only skeletons and a few shortswords
remained, making it difficult for Tyrloril to guess the exact race or
sex, although one of the bodies appeared to have been a dwarf. The
medallion had been beside one of the human-sized bodies, but
whether the person had been carrying it, Tyloril was not sure.
