can stay in the adventures they're already in.

"So," Alan said, looking across at his new aquaintance. "You're Spike
Brennan, huh? Good to meet you!" The smaller young man extended his hand
and shook firmly with the other.
"Call me Dennis." The other replied, replacing his hand by his side after
one of the wet-fisher species of handshakes. Dennis didn't tower over Alan,
only being a few inches taller than him, but tended towards an athletic
solidity while Alan gave the impression of being able to blow away in a stiff
breeze. "The dragons inn regulars are up on the third floor, should
we join them?"
"Sure." Alan replied, grabbing his backpack and accompanying the other to
the elevator. "By the way I wanted to compliment you on your work. Chasing
you across parahan was really fun."

"So," Palandun said, looking across at his new aquaintance. "You're
Dougl, huh? Good to meet you!"
Dougl looked at his aquaintance and smiled. "Nice to meet you to, Mr?"
"Lintesul. Palandun Lintesul. Call me Pal. I'm an administrator at the
It-At town hall." Palandun surveyed the common room of the dragons inn,
which was doing a brisk business tonight. Listener played a cheery song and
the dark corners were filled to capacity with dark cloaked figures who didn't
look nearly as morose or dangerous as they usually did. In fact, one of the
dark corners was just unforming itself as the couple who had recently
occupied it went upstairs to search out dark noncorners when palandun noticed
something odd about it.
  He looked again.
The dark corner, instead of unforming in the normal way, was... the closest
way to describe it would be to say it was shearing off from reality,
employing something of a dimensionless twisting motion as though it were
detaching from the fabric of the universe.
Palandun's adventures in the shunned center hadn't been without a learning
experience or two. "OUT!" He shouted. "Everybody get out NOW. There's
some kind of dimensional shift!" Some of the clientel immediately streamed
out the door but, as Palandun realized sickeningly, this was the Dragons Inn,
and people who weren't afraid of danger tended to frequent here...
"What's going--?" Dougl asked as the rift swallowed everybody in the common
room...

"I don't care if it is screwed up, *I* like the idea of a Broccoli King."
Alan said, pacing Dennis down the hall. "It's an example of the - that's
peculiar - the underlying hilariousness of everything."
"I didn't say it was a *bad* idea." Dennis said, "I just said it wasn't
very serious is all. What's peculiar?"
"One of those SCAdians in that room back there looked just like I always
imagined Pal Lintesul would."
"Hmmm. I thought the same thing."
"You thought one of them looked like Pal Lintesul?"
  "No," Dennis replied, "Dougl."
"Dougl wouldn't look anything like Pal Lintesul."
"You're going to get thwapped if you keep this up." And the two of them
turned and entered the room where the writers for Alt.Pub.Dragons-Inn were
gathering.
