As it so often does, the inn door opened. A man, possibly an elf
from his tall thin frame, entered the room. Most people looked his way,
ackowledging an entrance, then returned to their own worlds of thought.
Salamander smiled. After three years, the inn was the same. Many new
faces, but still the same. He pulled his hood back, exposing the tips
of elfin ears through his sun-blond hair. A longsword hung from his left
hip from a leather belt. The belt itself had five blue gems, somehow set into
it. The elf's clothing was bright, grean wrap-pants and a yellow shirt. His
cape was a spectacle itself: at the top it was yellow, but towards the bottom
it faded to orange then firey red. On the back a silver salamander reflected
the light from outside.
The elf walked to an empty table near the middle of the room (there were
always available seats away from the corners) and sat down. When the
waitress came over to him, he slid silver coin across the table to her.
"Raventon silver," he said with a smile. "Your best mead, and a loaf
of bread." Then he added with a smile, "For now."
