  Kinn was sitting on a rug in his living room when Reteo came for his
weekly visit.  Reteo spoke for several minutes, and began to stare at
Kinn, sadly.
  Kinn said nothing, and simply sat, staring into space.  After several
more minutes, Reteo left.
  Kinn then turned his head to look at the door.

  "Very good," came a voice from behind him.  Kinn turned to see Lonalis,
his friend and confidant.  Lonalis was one of the two Fates that spoke to
Kinn during his work.  Now, though, Lonalis' sister, Artel, was missing.
  Kinn looked up to Lonalis.  "Must I continue this charade?  Poor Reteo
is worried half to death!"
  "Nay, gentle Gnome.  Reteo is worried, but he will soon put into effect
a quest that will return my sister to me."
  "Come come, you are the past-seer!"
  Lonalis looked around.  "My sister has taught me some of her lore, just
as I have taught her some of mine.  I can foresee my sister's return, and
Reteo Varala, one of Ryxx's Sent, will be standing beside us, as one of 
us.
  At that, Lonalis left, back up to his home plane.

  "Yes," muttered Kinn, "But will he be sane?"
